Well, The battery decided to die again so want to get a new one, Current is just a halfords one.

For an S with alarm, Only used on weekends.

Was looking at race batteries but they will die much quicker.

Any one used a solar battery conditioner? any recommendations, the lighter the better :)

I really wouldnt purchase a race battery, a mate had one on his 306 rallye and he was for ever charging the dam thing, especially at this time of year.

As above, they drain really quickly and the saving in weight is only worth it on a race car.

Not really much point for the road mate. If your certain then a Varley will be a good choice :)

The solar trickle chargers do a decent job imo.

Relocate to the back! race battery ftw, you hardly use the car anyway! just leave it on charge untill the weekend when it comes back on the road.

What i was going to suggest in my first post but is there really a point unless he is going for maximum weight loss?

The race batteries are quite expensive plus you will need the holder to put it in the boot so its over £100, for hardly any gain really.

There is another benefit. The sealed ultima type batteries do not release any gasses when charged, so are safe to have in the boot. Normal ones do, so you need some sort of sealed box or vent etc really. Alot of people dont bother, but having heard the bang when someone took the leads off a battery thats been on a deep charge without turning the charger off i would.

Think i will have to get a standard battery and try a solar trickle charger.
