what makes this car pop like it does? is it just hitting the limiter?

yeh it's just the limiter by the sounds of it

why the big pop like that then? never heard a sax pop like that before on the limiter lol

I wonder how long it took for the car to make one big bang after filming that??

Very high spec engine mate.

That car got wrote off a few month ago, someone crashed into him.

Was probably one of the fastest saxos on this website.

shame about the car but can anyone answer my question lol

look at Bee-R revlimiters they work by cutting ignition not fuel so fuel is still injected while the ignition is cut then on the next cycle its usualy dumped into the hot exhaust and ignites creating the pop bang. many limiters work similarly such as the omex.

Rob-C

so for example if i wanted this to happen i would use a omex rev limiter and set it to like 100rpm lower than my original rev limiter, then once the limiter hits it would pop like that?

just a note, not going to do it jsut wondering how it would be done lol

tbh if you have a turbo and want pops its all about antilag :D

how is anti lag added

AlexB
15th November 2009, 20:29
anti lag only works on a turbo
i dont fully understand it so i wont pretend i do to explain but it sounds fucking mint

Rob-C

im turboing my vtr so would like to know how this works if anyone knows :)

anti lag as far as i understand was developed for rallying, it basically is designed to keep the turbo spinning at its optimal rpm so stays onits powerband and prevents as the name sugests 'lag'

it involves some messing around with the ignition timing and opening the throtle partialy so that there is always enough gas flowing through the exhasut turbine to keep the turbo spinning - i think lol

AlexB

from my basic knowledge (and its vry basic lol!) but i was told as a rough example it basically every time you let off the throttle stops sparking so the fuel ignites in the manifold causing the gasses to flow faster and keeping the turbo spinning so you dont loose boost and then have to build back up through the lag

i dont see the point on most kits ect as the turbo is normally small enought to not have much lag

it also buts massive strain on the turbo bearings, a freind works at a go-kart track and its open to cars to there was a scooby with antilag and the sound is imense but it is illeagle like most good things for cars lol just a few things to consider

doesnt having a dump valve stop anti-lag as it releases the pressure?

see this is why i say i dont know enough to explain lol!

Rob-C

lol maybe someone else can answer, i know a little about the anti-lag uses pressure and that but the DV lets the pressure out so maybe that stops the anti-lag

anti lag is not a simple process im sure there is alot of tecnology that goes into it, but with the throtle open partialy i cant see the dv opening though thats the way i understand it to work, its about the extra fuel that is injected that helps the turbine keep spining to.

tbh though unless yo are building a wrc spec engine then you arnet going to use anti lag though this is an interesting subject :)

ah well, maybe just have omex launch control on my car then and just play with that lol
