hey all,
picked up the car tonight
took it for a wee run, sounds alot better than it ever has,
had a new front pipe fitted, but there is a burning smell coming from the area around the front pipe,i smelt it in the car,and opened the bonnet and its there too.
im just after some info on why there might be this smell and if there is any chance of the engine catching fire while im driving???
cheers in advance

do you mean manifold when you say front pipe?
if so was it painted black by any chance? my 4 branch manifold was painted and it smelt really bad of something burning. it goes when all the paint has burnt off!

Probably because you got new pipe on mate, because of the welding etc.

When i had my middle section done, that was the same. Should go by tomorrow

sometimes when a new product comes from the manufacturers it can have small oil deposits on them from when they were made, it might just be this! or it may need the monifold bolts re-tightening? did you hve new gaskets?
