:wall:hi every one here we have a y reg saxo mk2 needs gear box change as ive got a mk1 saxo spare i need to no rufflee how to strip down and take it out does any one have any ideas plus does a mk1 gear box fit mk 2 i think it does ... i need replys asap as im stuck as the weather is shit lol plz help me out people asap any one

everthing above the gearbox out eg battery tray etc undo the starter and the 4 main bolts that hold it in then undo the engine mount on thet side jiggle it out coz it's on dowels. <basic guide there

doing it alone you will need a crane. :)

ive not used a crane yet Sexy, always just lift them in off of the floor.

Can do it yourself, but would look to have someone help as wouldn't like to take the gearbox off alone incase something goes wrong/hurt yourself

yeh that has happend lol, they are very heavy to be fair i normally get a hand to lift it onto the spindle then after that i do it alone, because a second pair of hands usually get in the way

the hardest bit if lining it up on the splines and then a pair of hands is good to get a couple of gearbox bolts in to ease your burning arms :P

ive done it alone without a crane, not the easiest job but not impossible.
if you use a mk1 box you'll have to swap the speed sensor from the top of the mk2 box

i use a crane for safety if anything. gearboxes weigh 30kilo.

just for the hat trick i charge £100 for a gearbox/clutch change ;)
