intercooler without turbo ? (just curious)

i was thinking the other day about how an intercooler works (turbo basically pushes air through it and then into the inlet to get it cooler)

now my question is would a N/A car benefit from like a intercooler fitted, with piping, to the inlet like normal but with just an air filter on the other end of it ... so like the air might be cooler? or maybe pointless? or may not even work?

i no its abit of a noob question but i was curious (probably a stupid idea tbh, lol)

No you see the air cooling the charge is the same as what the air the engine is sucking in. With a turbo car the air gets hot as it passes the turbo and so the intercooler cools it back downs again. No turbo makes for no heating and so no point at all in a normal intercooler.
