Basically i'm swapping a engine very soon.

Engine 1 = Doner Engine
Engine 2 = Current Engine in Car

If i take out engine 2 and put in engine 1 into my Punto, while using the same ECU and car key/ ignition barrel that is in use for engine 2, will my car work?

Both engines are EXACT same, from the same model car + same year.

Thanks

yeh will be fine - you won't need to unlock the ECU as all the electronic side of things will be the same as it was before - it#'s only the actual engine itself thats changed.

Good luck with it - bit cold at the moment for changing engines

You sure? I thought you had to unlock it regardless, or is thats only with a completely different engine?

If you have a car, keep all the original Ecu, loom etc but just change the physical engine -then how is the Ecu to know you've changed the engine?

If you were putting a different Ecu on it, you'd need to unlock it so that it works with all the original immobiliser bits. But as your keeping the original Ecu and immobiliser bits there will be no probs!

Ahh so its only the case for example - When people change from a VTR to a VTS? Gotcha, this always confused me a little :geek:

Wicked. I'll be doing it at dad's work in the warm. I wasn't sure if the ecu was coded to the engine. Like the engine had a chip in it that works with that ecu.

No, the immobiliser parts are between key, immobiliser box and Ecu.
