bottom end bearings

hello everyone got a mk1 1.1 saxo and my local garage have told me that the bottom end is knocking (i knew this anyway) well i was wondering as they dont know is it an easy fix if its the crank bearings, or shells?

Dont waste your time, chances are the crank will need a re-grind and all ther labour costs will a bomb. I have chaged the big ends on my old xr3i and got away with it but thoses engines are quite tough and forgiving compared to the TU engine anyeay. Get a second hand motor and drop it in
