I want to swap my 1998 Black-top vtr engine with a vts(don't know what age the Vts is) engine. is it just a straight forward old-out new-in? Or does it take a bit more than that? i know most people -from what i've read- say that i should just get a Vts and save myself the bother but i like the look of my Vtr and Vtr sounds better than Vts.

Can anybody help or point me in the direction of someone who has done this before?

Cheers,

Shaun (VTRShetland)

Thats good news!!! I've been looking for days on the threads for days but there isn't a straight answer haha. I know abouts engines but i don't know about electrics :S. What would happen if int was a newer engine? Am getting the whole Vts car(the back axle is f**ked and the guy is selling it cheap).

I have so many questions lol

Doing the swap would mean i could swap the dials? I f**king hate my dials! there analoge, which is last century technologie lol.

Would the ABS be able to go on my Vtr?

Sorry for the 20 questions :S

Appreciate the help

If it sounds better, why not just strip your vtr of all the mods

Its not that simple as the 16V has specific cut outs on the pistons to clear the valves. So you cant just swap a head over. The 1.4 8V blocks are not ready to accept the 16V tensioner I don't recall if the 1.6 8V does or does not though. It can be done its just not as simple as it sounds

Blacktop to vts is the easiest conversion.

Get yourself a 97,98,99 vts engine with single plug ecu and loom. Then swap everything like for like in the engine bay. Its a plus that you already have both fuel lines :)

You will want a bigger rad and fan setup. Also exhaust manifold.

if its a newer engine youd need the 3 plug ecu and i think the plug for the interior loom is different aswell!

yea you can swap the dial but i dont no if the digital ones would work because its diff interior loom youd have to ask some one that knows it a bit better!

u can put abs but youd need to change breaks driveshafts and the master cylinder i think thats it!

its ok mate its a saxo forum people that can be bothered dont mind helping.

Cheers guys for the help! its much appreciated.

Now i just have to hope its a '97,'98 or '99 car! :S

For getting a bigger fan and better cooling system i was just going to use the set up from the Vts and the same with putting on the ABS
