petrol cap stuck!!!!

;ast night i went to garage to get some petrol. it was very very low. put key in to get petrol cap off and it wouldnt budge.

i thought ahh its frozen!!!!!!

filled up my petrol can and managed to make it home. tried all sorts to get it off. boiling water, sprayed defroster in key hole. sprayed grease in to hole and left it all night and it still wont open, tried and tried and tried. dont want to push it too hard in case i snap the key.


i have taken plastic fascia off the petrol cap and poured water over that, sprayed it, tapped it with hammer all sorts


please anyone got any ideas how i can get it off!!!!!!

It's just the rubber seal that's frozen. If possible get a few litres of very hot water and pour it constantly (slowly) for about a minute to unfreeze it.

I had the very same problem last time I went to the petrol station. I had to leave it and drive to work on fumes lol

screw driver done the trick ha ha, hot water didnt do it, tried loads of it!!!!!!!

it had been stiff for a while.<cough> my key is a little bent but still works ok. been told vasaline round the rim is good < double cough>!!!!! when its cold, as it dont freeze.

getting another one off of ebay, can get one for about 12 quid .

I should sort mine out really, been getting stiff for a while :homme:
