Who would you guys go to if having a high spec boosted tu mapped? There's atspeed and gmc on the shortlist atm. But gmc is an absolute mission for me!

Depends on the ecu really.

AT Speed have mapped supercharged 106 gtis before, apparently with good results.
Northampton seem highly recommended on here also

That was another question, I want to look into the possibility of having interchangeable maps for different boost levels. I know emerald do a unit with these capabilities any others people know of?

If you buy a dta i know a guy what could map it for you

But it mean's a trip to rotherham...

no massive advantage of having switchable maps on a SC car.. the only benefit would be a fuel economy map and a power map. due to sc boost being related to engine revs the only way to limit boost is not rev it as much.

switchable maps would be great for turbo car.

Thats what i would be after danny, suppose its not really going to make that much difference. Drive with a steady right foot to save fuel.

A good map will be both economical at part throttle and make the best power unless VVT and/or boost control are being used heavily.

you dont need switchable maps, as sandy has said, if its mapped properly then you will have economy at light throttle and full power at full throttle.

the problems not capabilities of the ecu, its capabilities of the mapper.
i see far too many poor mapping jobs done on peoples cars.. and the customers pay good money for it.

all this "switchable" mapping stuff seems to recently have come about, and people seem to think they need it for different boost levels, or fuel economy.... let me set this straight... you only need ONE map. (one map done properly that is)

on our turbo cars we use an electronic boost controller with 6 boost memories. the ECU has one map which is mapped for ALL boost pressures to give maximum power, yet retain good fuel economy under normal driving without making NO sacrificice to maximum performance or reliability.

people should look into how the mapping software works before jumping to conclusions... simplified.. (at least for turbo) its RPM on one axis vs Manifold Pressure on another axis.

part of the map is vacuum, part is pressure, from 0 to 2 bar, 3 bar, 4 bar whatever you set it to.. and across the other axis is rpm sites, say 500-8000rpm.

you are always in the correct load site for current rpm and boost pressure, and mapped correctly, you will have the correct ammount of fuel and ignition in that cell... that being said.. if your map is correct.. why would you need more than one map?

see my website for a basic introduction into mapping..

i highly recommend omex.

yes we mapped deans 106 turbo, also shauns and titchs which showed also very good results, also my own 106 turbo. we have also done a lot of supercharged and NA 106/saxo in various states of tune, and different management systems.

we tune any car, not just 106/saxo... NA or turbo/supercharged, and anything from classic cars on carburettors to turbocharged endurance racing cars.

also regarding fuel economy...

dean says he used less fuel driving to us in his 106 turbo than he did in his quiksilver!

and repeated again by shaun and other customers who cannot believe the fuel savings after we had remapped their cars.

this shows far too many "professional" tuners spend far too long concentrating on the full throttle openings, and not enough time spent on the cruise/light throttle sites.

where are you based colin? and what sort of price are you charging to do a full map?(vtr turbo) im buying the pred but having to pay for andy to come up and map, may be easier if your close to get it mapped by yourslef or someone else? can pm me the answer if wished, andy
