have used the search function but no luck.

Can someone explain the 5th injector setup for a turbo conversion. is it a cheap alternitive to getting the car mapped or going piggyback? not planning a conversion...just curious?

thanks in advance

the stickies/faqs at the top of each section cover it but simpley, yea that set up is the cheapests and you can map it yourself

All the 5th injector is a extra inject that had its own extra mini ECU to operate it. This adds the extra fuel to go with the Extra air your boost gives. People normally use a MF2 ECU to run the 5th injector as these are very easy to map at home. You don't even need a laptop. The biggest problem with these is that the standard ECU will see the extra fuel. When it see these it will reduce the amount of fuel it gives to its own injectors. So people normally add another piggyback ECU called a SigCom2 or SigCom3 that stops the standard ECU from doing this. All these parts add up and when you consider the price of some of these direct plug ECUs you can get now most people just go stand alone. Generally stand alone will give better results and lets you much the engine further but a good 5th injector setup will still good enough to use on engine that are powerful enough to destroy a standard gearbox.

I do a PnP ECU for the VTS/106gti Single Plug. Basically unplug existing ECU, plug in mine, and you've got a standalone management solution which uses 100% original sensors, but ALSO has an onboard 250kPA (21psi positive booost aware) MAP sensor so it's compatible with turbo's/superchargers too.

Kind regards
