thinking of buying for the vtr

after any change in engine setup it would be wise to get the fueling checked out to see if a re map is required

Can you post up the spec of the camshaft, might make it easier to make s judgement

Should get the 4901202's ;),
the 201's you are thinking about buying will run fine on a std inlet and ECU ;)

They don't seem that wild tbh with regards to duration, but do have a lot of lift. Might be worth phoning QEP and asking them about the camshaft and whether you can run it.
This is the spec of the Newmans PH3:
Duration: 270degrees
Valve lift: In 10.53mm Ex 10.44mm

On the CatCam website they seem to think it will run fine on std inlet and ECU

I've never fitted cams to a vtr so I can't say about what works or not.
All I know is that on the camshaft spec sheets sometimes they say will not work with standard fuel injection - but clearly they do as people have fitted them....... so I take what they say with a pinch of salt
If you're confident that they'll fit then the op should go for it.
It's just a lot of money to fit an 8v camshaft, buy it, you'll need a vernier pulley etc. All I can say is that they have a lot of lift compared to Newmans PH3's but are a lot less duration.
People have had to have remaps with PH3's to get them running nice and smooth - not sure how close the valve clearances were/are.

Im just going off what ive seen on here, people fitting the PH3 dont seem to have that many problems, if they adjust the timing with the vernier pulley they can get it running pretty much smooth.
I imagine fitting the 201 and 202's will make it run a little lumpier than the PH3 as they have a larger lift, however i dont think it should cause any problems, the remap will only maxamise the performance output of the cam, and make it run a little smoother.

im after low end torque with a 106 rallye inlet fanimold and a sxi gearbox - have full exhaust too + 4 branch - not bothered with top end speed or i would buy a skyline or pulsar lol
