View Full Version : Couple of queries

Hi Guys,
I know this should really go in the Problems/Queries sections but I thought I might get a bit more help/notice putting it here. (Feel free to move it if you want)
I'm starting to collect parts ready for the throttle bodies....
The first epically simple question, for a car with cams/bike bodes on the VTR would you recommend a piper 4-1 or a SS 4-2-1? (And perhaps why?)
But the main query is that I've been told to run injectors between 200-220cc and was wondering what the standard injectors are on the later silvertop engine? And also where can I get some new injectors with the above flow rate? (Links to some for sale would be grrrreat!)
I've searched a few places (Including here before I get moaned at) but all I can see are standard replacements.... :(
Any help would be appreciated... :y:
Cheers :afro:

I probably wont be the first person to say this but you'd get better gains from a VTS swap. Anyway though, you'll be fine to use standard injectors with a fast road cam, not sure about changing them if you had bike bodies aswell but would athought it would be ok.

injector wise, might be worth just getting a set of vts injectors (225cc@3bar) - should be plenty for going bodies on 8v - dannygti had some for sale at a bargain price
manifold is upto you really, I'd go with a 4-1 as the 8v has quite a bit of low down torque already, so the 4-1 should help better figures up in the revs with a nice cam and bodies

If I had a pound for everyone that says this on the website I know but look in my progress thread for the reasons I can't be bothered to repeat myself all the time :p I'd need a bit more fuelling so an upgrade would be best when the bodies go on..... cheers anyways dude

Would they fit though? To be honest I'd go with some new ones I'm a bit of a new freak so to speak :p
The manifold is where I'm a bit meh as obviously fitting the cams it going to drain the low down a bit (So I've heard). Realistically I wan't a nice clean sweep or torque and fitting a 4-1 will that make it even worse low down?
As obviously mine is going to be a daily driver which will consist of sitting in the dreaded traffic grr... lol

If you are going bodies then they will fit, they are just pico injectors.
It's upto you tbh with the manifold - I've never had both on my car so can't say for sure. When your having 'fun' in the car then you'll want a nice bit of torque from say 3k to the limiter.
Ultimately upto you, go with what you'd prefer!!

But I'll be using the standard fuel rail don't forget ;) I'm not flashy with Jenvey's I'm hardcore :p
And I think I'll go with the SS 4-2-1 ..... just for piece of mind...:p

Don't they use the gsxr fuel rail spaced out with the bodies?

Thats because they are supposed to be for Rallye's but I'm a rebel lol...
The design on the rallyes injection is quite crap when running bodies so they usually change them, but the VTR's rail is positioned a lot better than the rallyes so will be a bit more beneficial
(From what I understand of the research)

Ah okay, even still, can't Colin make the fuel rail fit the pico injectors as he's going to be making the fuel rail fit anyway.
There's no benefit really as to what fuel rail you run really apart from capacity maybe with BIG bhp jap builds.
Surely you just want a fuel rail to fit the bodies and fit some vts injectors. The vts injectors are spot on size fir you and can pick up sets of them very cheap that work perfectly! This is why I'd be inclined to run any fuel rail so vts injectors fit.
You going to be running a fuel return line? If you are you'll need a fuel rail to suit this and an external for?

Yeah but again its location the standard locations is still better I'm guessing I'll get you Sandy's e-mail lol

And I quote:
"You will need bigger injectors, about 200-22cc/min, if you keep the location in the head and OE fuel rail (ideal) you'll need the same length as original."

Lol, I dont mind what you do, just trying to help!! You don't have to justify youself to me.
You'll have to let us know what type injectors will fit then, so we can try and find the right cc ones and part numbers.
It's just damny's selling vts ones for £20 delivered iirc which is a bargain! Injectors aren't cheap new!! Even second hand they can be expensive!

I think your injectors are Bosch? So you'll just need to find suitable cc Bosch injectors - eBay is prob best bet, or try on here

I know your helping dude its just this venture is expensive and hopefully want to get it all sorted first time all the help is appreciated dude your the only one so far that is fully helping :p
They are Bosch injectors but are all of them the same length as euro car parts in the most shocking website in the world as it shows them but doesn't show the length cc or anything :wall:
I'll give GSF a try in a sec...

I've got a list of all the Bosch injectors and their cc's on my computer - I'll post up the part numbers for all of them between 210cc and 230cc tomorrow evening

I've found a few either 210cc or 230cc injectors but its length's aswell that are the main thing...
