hi there. thinking of doing a bit of a diffrent conversion to a pug 106. i was wondering if a single plug vtr engine will fit directly into a s2 106? will it fir directly onto the mounts or will some welding be required and also will i need to use the 106's ecu or mine? and also are the s2 106's 3 plug or single plug ecus? any hep will be great thanks

which model 106 have you got atm mate???
if you have the 106 1.6xs, then it has the same engine as a vtr, so no need to change
but if its a 1.4 or 1.1, then the vtr block its self will go straight in, no need to change anything like mounts etc etc
but i am unsure about using the vtr loom and ecu as 106's use alot of different multi plugs, depends if its single or a twin plugbt the vtr ecu will not fit on your current 106 loom either way
tbh i wouldnt put a vtr engine in though, depending on what you want though, there are a couple of s2 rallye engines around atm with decent mileage too and at a good price
these will be better than a vtr lump cause they use a better cam, its 270deg sandard so is pretty much nearly a mild aftermarket cam, plus they use better valve springs so are better for higher revs, so will seea better gain by using this engine tbh
but again depends on what you want etc

If it's a petrol 8v 106 then yes mounts are the same, you can buy 106's with VTR engine's known as XS if you can get hold of one (supposed to be rare)
