is it possible to swap a 1.1 for a 1.4 engine for my saxo? Someone has told me it is but i'm thinking this is gonna be quite difficult if it will be fairly easy i really need to put something bigger in because me and 3 of my mates went bowling last night and i tried to overtake a transit in 4th at 55 but had to drop it to 3rd for more pwr

yours is a spi...the mechanic who will do my conversion this summer
compared the 1.1 engine with a 1.4 on a computer and found that there
are some things that can cause problems but if you get a 1.4 from xsara
that does not have servo...or it can have servo but then you dont need
some parts...they will be sufficent...then the problems are
minnimum..dont know how the prices go with mecahnics in the uk...but
here in Croatia its cheap...
And Starkie...if you put a 1.4 in a 1.1 you will have better transmission
then a furio cause the gaer box of a 1.1 has a quicker transmission...and
you will have a better start then a furio... smileys/smiley2.gif
so its worth it..

Click (http://www.pug-performance.com/pug-106-tuning.htm)

I know it aint a saxo but 106 is vertually the same. It'll be around the 900 quid mark according to this.

Remember to uprate you brakes aswel if decide you are goin to put a bigger engine in.

Well not really. If your going to fly about at quite high speeds or maybes take it on a track then better breaks will be suited. But a 1.1 can do 70mph and so can a vts but just gets you they that bit quicker.Im saying if your goin to do 100+ then 1.1 brakes are goin to be no good if you need to stop quickly, hense why a 1.1 struggles to reach 100mph.

If you can see the point i'm trying to make and if your a careful driver I dont think there should be a need to convert brakes aswel.
