After reading a few posts from the past :geek: ive heard some people say that the supersprint exhaust doesnt sound that raspy on vtr's (even gone as far as saying it had a deep tone) with the cat still in place. Im really looking for a raspy system and havnt got the money to get a new manifold to decat the car. Is this true? or am i reading shit? lol

with standard mani, cat fitted on a 90bhp vtr it isnt raspy. remove the cat and it is abit raspy.

probably not tbh. BUT it is the most raspy exhaust you can get so if you want rasp then get one.

you would want the race system as you have the cat in the manifold. Might be abit more raspy only one way to find out

How many systems do supersprint offer? and what are the differences between them?

Sparco_Tom

there are different centre pipe
silenced - unsilenced
mk1 cat back
mk2 cat back

N80Jamie

ahh ok, im guessing the race system for the mk2 basically means straight through pipe from the manifold to back box then. Ill have a look into those then, cheers :y:

yer on a mk1 vtr and vts' it would decat them hence the "race"

Get the Supersprint Race Centre Section mate then any backbox of your choice ;).

mate i got a mk2 VTR got the Supersprint centrepipe with silencer, and ss backbox, but i aint got a cat in the manifold but it does sound raspy, im sure once you change the standard manifold to an uprated one the tone will definatley increase , and bear in mind the raspy note will increase as you wear in the exhaust and burn the carbon etc

Surely without the ss back box it will take away more of the 'rasp'?

Not necessarily mate, heres a few videos for you with the SS Race Centre pipe and then a different brand backbox.

ive seen that first vid before, sounds perfect imo. Thing is, thats a vts which has been decatted aswell which will sound a lot different to a vtr with a cat. I was thinking of going for the ss centre section and a 3inch sportex back box? Anyone else running this or shouldi just stick with original plans and o for the full ss?

You got any vids of your set up Pearson?

lukee_VTR

mate i prefer the sound of the second video, it sounds mint! but i can already tell its got the 4-2-1 uprated mani, thats not sittin on a standard manifold, no way.

I have the full SS set up and i love it ;)

I'll post one up tomorrow afternoon for you, i'll take it underneath a nearby disused railway bridge and give it some revs so you get to hear what it sounds like with standard manifold and cat, it will echo aswell with it been under a tunnel.

Agreed, it's fookin orgasmic. Piper BB is teh sex.

I'm currently looking for a race tube to pair up with my magnex - will have the cat in mani so I'm interested to see how it will sound!

Thanks a lot :y: How does the sound compare to the vid u posted above with the vts running ure setup?

It's hard to describe really, when mines warmed up and i stick it in neutral and just rev it to about 4/5 revs it just pops for england, more of a rally car noise i would say, i'll do a video and you can compare.

Yea i love it, shame i didn't really look into different backboxes when chosing my set up, kinda got a bit swayed by the whole 'Supersprint is amazing' but it really doesn't disappoint. I went from a proper loud exhaust so thats why i chose the mid-silencer in centre section really didn't want to hear that shit in my ears any longer lol

Regarding the cat in the mani, i bet it will sound lush anyway!!! what race tube u going for?

Ahh I know what you mean, it's a large bandwagon and if I had had the money I would have bought the whole system too! I hear the mid silencer on the supersprint is supposed to refine the note a bit?

Supersprint I'd think mate, I've seen people pair them up but not heard what it sounds like - plus the standard centre section on my mk2 R is far too restrictive imo!

Yea mate the silencer tones down the raspyness a touch, but i can't say it defeats the whole sound, once you give it a boot over 4k it kicks into a nice note which i hate to love!! (Petrol prices are a joke)

Yea the supersprint centre sections are decent mate, you will notice less of a restriction instantly imo. can't go wrong, yet you probably already know this lol. :y:

I'm sure it doesnt, someone else has it and really rates it too! Haha that's the vice with all mods, the sound and performance - I know what you mean they are indeed. You should take a couple of videos, I'd certainly be interested in hearing them (when you have some spare fuel to burn of course lol)

Sweet, yeah you know it mate! Sound! :)

So a decat mani changes the sound a lot? I always feel that my exhaust sounds a bit, I don't know how to describe it... restricted... or empty, like it's being choked, or suffocated, I don't know, it doesn't sound "full". Could this be the cat on the mani then?

I currently have the supersprint race centre and backbox with my janspeed 4-1 inc sports cat manifold and there is no way on this planet it doesnt sound awesome.

Could definatley well be mate, the cat in the mani will definatley restrict the noise and some performance, but yea your best bet is to look into changing to a 4-2-1 uprated one:y:
