Hi guys!

I've bought my VTS two weeks ago ( this is my second one so far ), and because the rest of the breathing stuff has done on it ( powerflow back-middle section, Raceland induction kit ) i've decided to remap it. Now I've booked an appointment with the company called Elit Remap to get it done and would like to know if anyone knows anything about this company, maybe previous saxperience with them. One more thing... there is an offer from the same guy, they can even put a chip in it for a 50 quid extra cost, and I need to know if the chip is worth that money. The guy said the estimated BHP with the works done is +25 is that right?

Many thanks

'Chip' is aload of bollox mate.

Might throw more fuel in/lift limiter up abit.. But what for? unless you got high lift cams that allow more fuel/air in each turn... it will just be over fuel'ing/over rev'ing a standard engine.

Even if you put throttle bodys+ph5's cams+serious head work.. And did a dyno test with and without a remap.. There would'nt be +25bhp difference!

if anything, it will make it slower. Overfueling and over reving.. STD VTS cams drops off peak power at 6800 iirc? so anything over that, will be a decrease in power.

Save your money, and don't do it ;)

And how about remap without the chip...?

Save your money, the stock map should cope fine with induction kit & exhaust swop.

Its only worth doing a remap (ignore getting it chipped - only gives good gain on forced induction engines) after camming!

What is camming exactly and how much is it cost? Sorry guys but you are dealing with a beginner...

Have a look at the stickies at the top of the engine section - will give an answer to your question (and others you may have!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

remaps can be good, as can chips, but anybody that tries to sell you a "chip" to give you 25bhp on a 130bhp car is to be avoided like the plague. Dont even let them open the bonnet!

peak power on standard vts is 6600 rpm.

camming is fitting uprated camshafts, which are higher lift and duration

this when timed and map with the normal breather mod will give you good increase in po er say 140-150 max!

a decent remap is like £350+ so anything less than this will be...
a) wank
b) turd
c) bullshit
d) all of the above

read whats being said to you!

you asked for advice so take it.

If you want your standard ecu remapped the place everyone will reccomend is wayne at chipwizards it will cost £400-£500. Or get a standalone ecu like omex, pred, kms etc and get that mapped talking more money though. I've got a cammed vts and will only see about 25bhp increase with a map so how will a car with only breathing mods get more??

Cams + remap + better manifold (including all fitting) = about a grand.

Also don't forget to tell your insurance company or your policy will be void.
