What am i gettin for my extra £100 for a stainless steel exhaust system over a mild steel system, i know some of the differences but what are the big advantages?
or would it be just as good to go for the mild steel system?

Stainless won't rust, and mild steel will rust. Personally I would go for a stainless system every time.

Stainless is a wee bit heavier heavier from what I remember, sounds a bit tingier (is that even a word lol) and will not rust like a normal steel exhaust. Stainless are prone to cracking though but that is unlikely to happen really.
If you plan on keeping car more than 3 years go for stainless jobby and have done with it.

If you're keeping the car for a while go for stainless, also change all the exhaust mounts too.

How much is it for steel? Good quality mild steel will still last a while, my centre section and backbox lasted 2 years which was 40K miles, if its over twice as much for the stainless and money is a factor then go for the steel.
But as said above stainless is better in everyway really (apart from price.)
Also is it a full system or just one section i.e backbox?
