Ok, I don't know much about cars, and I haven't done anything to my VTR just yet.
I was wondering if anyone knew when it's the best time to shift in each gear to to get the most acceleration possible?

I like to have the revs bouncing off the limiter for several seconds before I change gear...

But surely there is a point where the acceleration of speed in a particular gear peaks and thus this would be the best time to change gears?

Performance stats say that it kicks out most of the BHP around 5.5k, but I quite like changing around 2-2.5k, as I'm a rebel.

I fear my first comment about bouncing the limiter hadn't portrayed the sarcasm and irony I was after.

To answer the original question....... around 5800-6000 is the best time to change. Anything above that is pointless and wont give any gain over the next gear :).

in third gear i put it in 4th around 5200k then it falls to around 4400 and has more pull in my opinion.

i used to shift my mark 2 vtr at about 7200 but occasionally it clipped its 8200 pointlessly
best would be about 5750ish though tbh

get a rolling road print out done, take note of your rev drop for each gear then use this to work out the best point 2 change gear. I change mine in rallys at around 7200, seems to suit it best but each gear and car is slightly different

lol well not everytime but in the rallys yes, on paper its the best time to change, gives the highest average of power and torqur in the rev band for each gear.

As long as the gear change makes the revs drop back into the powerband. Usually near the limiter for me.

Yeah i was gonna say.
You have to take into account that going past the peak power may be beneficial as the revs will drop back into the power band for the next
