Hey guys,
The saxo has died! Was working before hand but had issues ith it cutting out if you rev it then let it idle, Then the engine didnt sound healthy after the 3rd turnover, Anyways lived with that car went round the block as long as the revs stayed up, And now i was working in the car on saturday fitting the rear speakers, My mate left the radio on when i was fitting it but put it on mute and it must of shorted maybe magnet to the body work or speaker wire? And the fuse for the headunit blew, Got that replaced and all electrics seem fine now, Came to starting the car and this is what happens:
Turn it to 3rd and the fuel goes to full tank as it should be, Service spanner comes on? Green backlight dims a little but comes back, and i hear a wrrring noise and when turned to start the engine the cars light dims all the dash goes out and can just hear clicking - A lot of clicks but no start :/
Maybe theres another fuse out somewhere that could effect this? Has the short damaged something? Or does the battery just need charging? it has enough power to power my headunit interior light and speakers etc although does sort of dim when playing music dims with the bass?
Maybe i should invest in a battery charger? Or is it something more serious?
Many thanks

When i saw fuse for headunit, I mean the 10amp fuse under the dash for windows headunit indicators etc.

Oh dear I thought I was having a bad day. I'm not expert believe me but if you left the sterio on then that would def drain the battery..Try charging it up over night and try again in the morning..
Good luck

The headunit turns off when the keys are out so i dont think its drained it, But it has been stood still a few weeks. Will buy a halfords charger and give it a go thanks :y:

Well the battery is brand new from tanya batteries for quite cheap, and all interior lights work and dont look that dim until a turn the key then it all dims
charger has good reviews and was only £26 delivered :)

Just a bit of an update, Was looking around the car and its got worse, The Headunit wont turn on, Windows try to come down but the dash goes out and windows stop trying. When i try to indicate or use hazards there is a buzzing noise and the dash dims. - Will try my halfords charger when it comes and if that doesnt work ill test all fuses, Replace most i can and then look into flasher relay? what other things should i check?

put the ignition on get someone to push the car put the car in second gear and release the clutch pedal it should go then take it for a spin to let the battery charge up

best thing to do is bump start it and take it for a good spin to charge the battery or get a battery charger and leave it on over night

Clicking and not starting is definatley, 100%, possitivley a dead battery, get a set of jump leads and ask a friend/neighbour if they can jump start your car for you, then go for a little drive to charge the battery.

is that it lol yeah dont leave it on over night, has anyone tried the solar panel battery chargers, it plugs into the cig lighter and leave it on ur dash and it keeps it topped up, do you think it is worth getting

Well ive got a charger coming soon, So ill charge it up and see what happens, How long should a battery last if not moving and had light use say... radio was on for 15 mins one day? I think i might have a drain somehwere, Can anyone point me in the right direction for checking if there is a drain somewhere? thanks for the input as always, this has to be one of the top car forums.
