Re-map or super chip in a 1.1 help

I know some one who owns a 1.1 forte, he has modified it to look like a vtr but has failed and tries to out do me on everything and also fails at that, he said he's going to get a remap or super chip in it, i didnt think it would do alot to it; but he's convinced it will..?

superchips are just a con. Trick the ecu to throw more fuel in.. but you need mod's to use that extra fuel.

a Re-map is more accurate to mods.. but no-one is stupid enough to mod a 1.1.

lol, he dosent have a clue what hes talking about. You can just stick a chip onto your ecu and it gives u 50bhp lol. Chips are no good even if its a real one. Remaps are better as they are made for the mods you have.

But you need serious mods though don't you? starting with Air filter and new exhausts system onwards.

Remaps are only worthwhile and worth the money once you get cams really, before then you wont really get any benefits.

you'll nether get 50 bhp from a chip lol, from remapping/chipping a 1.1 you get about 6bhp

A remap alone will make barely any difference to his 1.1, unless he spends a fair bit it will never have more power than a westie.

Started as a quicky. He broke it. Then went 1.1. He broke it. Then it had a 1.3 rallye engine...... Don't know whether he's breaking that one or already broke it and going for a GTI engine :panic::panic:

haha makes me chuckle, you normally only see 30 bhp on a turbo or tdi,not a 1.1- tell him to get a resistor lol if he believes you and gets one, he will believe anything because as already said no point tuning a 1.1, best thing to do is lighten it to make it quicker!!

I can understand why people modify 1.1's visually. Some of the nicest car's i've seen are 1.0's

But they look so nice because the owner knows that there's no point trying to make it any faster and therefore save their money and spend it on visual mods instead.
