hi ive notice on the forum that people are cuting bottles to use instead of a header tanker.this carnt be rite as ive been told cuting bottles will course an air lock over and over againe .im going to order today the real header tanker as i want to do it properly.without no air locks and my temperature needle to sit low not moving around up and down i no some of you would use a cut bottle but i dont think it works. does anyone agree???cheers:wall::wall::wall:

Why would a cut bottle sealed to the radiator neck be worse than a header tank from Citroen.

They are effectively the same thing, just need a good seal between bottle andradiator - I've bled coolant systems without a header bottle and been spot on.

i fort if the bottle was cut .when felling the bottle up you would get air lock because its not a sealed bottle.plus i saw a guide on here not to use a cut bottle .ive tryed it tho with a cut bottle and the needle does not sit the way a citrion garage done .the needle sits high to the half mark but before it sat lower ???:(

i would like it to sit lower the needle like it was .thats why i wanted a header tanker so it sits lower .:)

I had to use a cut coke bottle duct taped on as when I asked at my local Citroen dealer the parts twat just drooled and uttered that he had never heard of one. I didn't argue it wasn't worth my time. The cut bottle worked fine, didn't leak even though it was on the car for 20 mins or so until the fan had kicked in a couple of times.

lol mate it sits just below the half but not lower for my liking mate before it sat dead between the botton of temperature gauge and the half .(in the middle)plus when she just goes over half fan cuts in and only brings it down to the half .how ever before it made it came rite down below the half .i dont understand it why it dont any more that s why i wanted a header tanker .so they say i wouldnt get this problem most of you would say it fine but lol i dont like it.. love it before lol......:)

Your car sounds like it's running fine - you don't want it to run cold.

Just enjoy it and keep an eye on the temp gauge.

It doesn't need to sit lower, sounds like the temp is spot on

BUT if you wanted to, just take your thermostat out - you do so at your own risk as the car will run rich. It's never something I'd recommend, but as you are adamant you want it to sit lower when it's fine then.........

a smaller one !? As in smaller diameter? Or one that opens at a lower temp?

I'd just leave it and enjoy the car

how low mate does it sit smack in the middle between the botton marker and the half marker if that makes since and does it move when you drive.and when fan cuts in.does it go below the half. back to the mark before the fan came on lol

jeffchiz

well it always sits just below half or on the half marker which is normal lol when it starts getting 3/4 way up the gauge then ill be worrying but at the moment mate i wouldnt worry in the slightest, you could always get a twin fan set up and a uprated rad like a nissens one, and im guessing the more coolant you have in the system will lower the temperature, but i dont know if having too much in would ruin the cooling system

i see thats where im not sure mate ...i flush my rad and the other two, plus i use a hose pipe in my lower rad pipe two flush it out but i neaver took my themostat out,. that may be the problem ,,im going two try againe soon or change themostat but all i do no is its fine but just aint rite lololololo
