Guys, looks like the car is particularly fond of assuming it's own form of cruise control and generally buggering up at idling too.

I've tried cleaning the thing but it's pretty much toast I think so I'm after a new one... NO WAY am I paying Citroen £zillions for one but I'd like a genuine Siemens VDO Stepper and not some Ninjibongo bollocks - sooooooo....

where can I get one from?

This adequate for you? ALOT cheaper though, i dont kno if id trust one that cheap.

Citroen are the most reliable for replacment parts unless you can get OEM from other places for less.

Not sure you know, but all it is, is a plunger on a motor pushing in and out aint it, and would only work as much on a VTS as it would on a 1.1
