Can anyone give me an idea of cost to replace the headgasket in an itemised format.

depends where you buy parts, if you replace all belt pulleys and water pump and if you have the head skimmed.

you could prob do it for £30 with an ebay head gasket kit which inc bolts if you dont replace belt, pulley, tensioner and pump and dont have the head skimmed.

but i would recommend that the least you get is head gasket, head bolts, belt kit (inc tensioner and idler) cam seals and skim the head.
it would make sense to do the water pump at the same time aswell and replace inlet and ex manifold gaskets.

you will also need to replace the oil and coolant.

I had cambelt kit, cam seals and water pump (all genuine) fitted last week but they didn't tell me at the time that it was leaking oil out of the headgasket :wall::wall:. I don't know whether to have another new belt on it when i get the HG done seeing as it was replaced so recently. They have told me i'm roughly looking at £500-600 for the work including a skim, does this sound right?

sounds way over the top. a skim should only be £25ish, + a few hours labour for doing the actual work on the car.

I got done the headgasket, head bolts, cambelt, water pump, themosat, and new coolant.. parts was around 150 from euro car parts but i paid for the more expensive items rather than the cheap copies

I paid £8 for a HEAD GASKET

+ £15 for tensioner and timing belt.

Oil - £15, Filter - £2 and coolant, i got free from work.

Did it my self. Didn't skim head as car wasn't getting hot or anything, simple maintenance really.
