right, basically accellerating up through the gears flat out coming to the top end of fourth and the car just stops responding, almost as if someone has stuck it into neutral. Then after 10-30 seconds after you have slowed down its back to normal... im cunfused lol.
Anyone have any idea on what this could be? its been seeping a bit of oil lately but wasnt sure if the two were related?
thanks in advance

May be a fuel filter blockage or..
It may just be becuase it has to fight a lot of wind resistance at that mph, so stops accelerating as much but im not sure.

Your car probably dosent have enough power to defeat the wind resistance.

What Saxo cannot redline 4th? apart from 1.1 or 1.4.
Injectors and resistance? Stem Seals leaking, compressing oil/fuel, HT leads and resistance against firing.
Lots of things it could be, where are you seaping oil from, how much and how long?

ok didnt think of fuel, not going to be wind resistance though...

yeah. HAHAHA :homme:

stem seals have recently been replaced, i was thinking some sort of compresssion because a lack of fuel would make it splutter?
also coilpack would also make it missfire wouldnt it?
seeping oil from top end, either cams seals or slightly lower, a fair amount tbh seems to only seep while driving and is worse the harder i drive it...
thanks for the help :)

Well could be the coil-pack, might had a stutter under 2,OOORPM, it lacked power, once resistance disappeared the power all came back.
Perhaps use a thicker oil, the fact its leaking when driving and the oil heats making it alot thinner to escape.
But, no idea, one of those silly issues that's hard to diagnose, and when you do find out what it is, you think to yourself "Oh why didn't I think about that"
BTW: Do a compression test, and then a wet compression test, need to-do both to find out what's wrong. Wet compression test should check if your rings are gone, but you'd have noticed that ;)

Well what speed is at the top end of your 4th gear?
When i had my VTR it would stuggle to go anywhere further than 110mph. I didnt bother me as I dont drive at them speed all the time, so therefore wasnt concerned.

Calculation results:
Tyre width (mm): 185
Aspect Ratio: 55
Wheel Diameter (Inches): 14
Gear: 4
Gearbox: 1587-8v
Engine Speed (RPM): 6500
Calculated Road Speed = 177.3KPH / 110.1MPH
195's @ 112MPH, take into account Wind Resistance as well.

I would put it all down to wind resistance. I wasnt joking when I said it before. Get a different gearbox on there and it will go further more easily but still wont be amazing. As ive said though, do you really need any more speed than 90mph?

Top end doesn't apply to redline, he's talking more 4-6.5k RPM where the issues are happening, probably only doing 70-85. Hence not wind-resistance, I doubt the OP is a total knob, seems to know exactly what he's doing.

Was just elaborating from this post pal. I agree with you if your talking around 70-90mph.

getting all checked out next week :)

its got a 16v engine with a 1400xsi box. it gets up to 100 easy enough...

I've changed almost all those specs lol

1400xsi box is good enough isnt it? 2nd shortest gear ratios out of all the boxs. 90+mph is usefull on track ;)

lol im no noob. will keep you updated on the soloution if i find it out :y:
