well i got a new style alternator from my old mk2 but its clip in wires but the one i need is the old type one with bolt in wires
i was told that i could use the clip in one but cut the wires then like attach them to the wires from the bolt in one and it should work

do you think that'll be okay?

I changed mine today. My old altenator was the one with the clip (not valeo) and the new one (valeo) used the bolt on wires. I cut the red wire and used a crimpet and bolted it down then took the other wire to the earth and it fired up as normal! success
