your looking at £150 up to £250 for a nice and tidy stainless steel manifold.
raceland are doing a cracking 4-2-1 manifold on ebay for about £130.

you should get a nice raspy sound from the manifold. i had a gmc 4-1 manifold on my car and it was very raspy.... nice performance increase though.

your cams you'll be looking at £400 for the actual cams and a remap.

but you should be taking off like a missile after all that...
only thing is if you tune the tits off the vtr engine you will lose the low down torque that the vtr is good for...
16v is probably the best upgrade you can do.

yes but a 4-2-1 manifold increases low down torque so all will be well

so which would u have done first

Sean
1st April 2006, 03:17
no real point in camming without doing headwork first and then remapping once the cam is in so if you can afford to have all 3 done at once then go for a the cam. if not then go for the manifold.

4-2-1 manifold for torque mate. dont think gmc do a 4-2-1, but i may be wrong. i did manifold first then cam and post and polish together and youve seen my baby roll.lol. good luck mate smileys/smiley4.gif

landy, plus if you buy the manifold first, when you port and polish it, it will be correct to the new manifold port sizes and shapes. smileys/smiley4.gif

Ive heard those raceland ones are not the best quality. I would stick with either gmc or supersprint. smileys/smiley2.gif

cammedvtr
4th April 2006, 11:49
wise words dan, both the names you mentioned are very good quality, but do the companys make 4-2-1 which is what he wants for torque. also long as you do the cam and head work together after the manifold you will be cool mate. smileys/smiley4.gif

gmc dont do 4-2-1 for vtr

gmc are quality fitted without no problems and im well impressed with mine

gmc mainfolds have proven power gains and are also the correct tuned length. and i tend to trust companies who have actually tested their products and don't just sell things by using a sales pitch without really knowing what they're talking about.

landy
4th April 2006, 21:44
how much r the gmc and were from

Sean
4th April 2006, 21:48
you buy gmc manifolds from gmc funnily enough smileys/smiley17.gif

my cat is not on the downpipe is it

Sean
4th April 2006, 22:34
look on the website under 'price list' for prices. i don't know if your cat is in the manifold, easy to find out though, and gmc sell for both mk1 and 2 vtr's.

landy
4th April 2006, 22:39
4-1 is gonna cost me 180 is this better than a 4-2-1

bullit
4th April 2006, 22:53
neithers better than each other. depends what YOU want

Sean
4th April 2006, 22:55
i would go for the gmc as the 4-1 will improve the mid range and top end, and the vtr has good low end torque anyway. and it's from gmc so you can't go wrong. smileys/smiley2.gif

bullit
4th April 2006, 23:01
agreed

landy
4th April 2006, 23:08
right a wanna get a manifold to improve my low end torque i wanna make it more faster settin of and improve my 0 60 and so on

Sean
4th April 2006, 23:13
i think the supersprint manifolds are 4-2-1 and are the only ones which are the proper tuned length. if they're not the correct length then there's no point getting one. read the manifold section on the gmc site for the reasons why. personally if it was my money i'd still go for the gmc 4-1 as you'll notice the improvement more on a vtr.
