15bhp from camshafts unmapped? i think that rollers a little optimistic to say the least

either way... camming a 1.4 8v. is it worth it? No way

not just cam... the car has bmc induction, straight pipes, 4-2-1 mani

if you have already got all them things it might be worth dropping a vtr engine in. it looks the same as urs so u cud be sneaky and not tell anyone. and all ur bits will fit on so u will hav 98bhp plus the manifold will probs put it up to 108 at least.

Thats a fair point tbh samuel, instead of gettin a vts lump could you not just get a vtr lump ? pick em up cheap and just swap your bits around ?? instant power increase at lower cost than an S lump, cheaper on insurance aswell if your gunna tell em ;).. Would your furio cams fit the VTR ???

yes the furio cam would fit in the vtr but u would need to take the head off both engines as the 8v the cam goes in from the bottom of the head so u need to take the head off (not so simple as a 16v). then u would need to get both engines set up on a rolling road. not worth it

get the vtr engine for about £150 (thats the going rate for a low mileage one). dont need gearbox as furio one is almost identical. u do need ecu(unlocked) and keys.
straight swap i believe.

then cam that engine and have it put in and ud go from probs 80bhp staight to 115bhp-125bhp depending on cam and map.
all low down power aswell :)

remember to upgrade the brakes and id put a decent set of springs and shocks and u got a nippy motor. no vts but still put a smile on ur face for alot less insurance. would cost more than a vts engine transplant but owell be different

he's already got awesome hi-spec brakes lol.. they could stop a train and a vts rear beam,, why do you say the vtr costs more to transplant ??

the vtr doesnt but the price of the cam is most probs about £200
pluss fitting will be about £100
setting up on a rolling road will be atleast £150

ur starting to get into the price rang of a vts transplant now and still havent had it remaped.

depends what u want to go for. a standard vtr will still have the edge of a cammed furio. a standard vts will still have the edge on a cammed vtr.
so if u forget about the cam then it will be a nice cheap upgrade.

already have the cam in there and all the other bits.... for an extra 200cc i cant see the point ve got plans with this engine ;)

the point of the 200cc extra is the extra bhp. you say u have put the cam in ur car and had it dyno'd at 87bhp.

if a cammed vtr come in at below 110bhp i would not be happy. thats before remap(if set up right)

so that is an extra 23bhp. that is something u will notice.
and most probs a shitload more torque as its a bigger cc engine..

you might even get away with just changing the bottom end of the engine.
the heads on the vtr and furio might be the same?
do some research.

1.4 xsi head is what you want ;)

Kent PT40 in a 98bhp VTR gained me 7bhp when compared to a VTR with similar breathing mods (standard cam). Worth the money? Not imo.

is this worth the time and money? whats the diffrence between the 2 heads?

no point in just using the head by itself with the crap lower rev limit for full benefit need to do a top end swap either 1.4 xsi or 1.3 rallye use inlet loom ecu higher rev limit more power etc

worth it for the money? only if you can get all the prts cheap and do most work yourself otherwise no

There's no advantages using an 8valve. Its not just about the starting figure that is higher on a 16ver, peak VE will also be higher up the rev range too. Don't let me put you off though, good luck.

you cant realy put me off as ive already started :( i deffo join the site to late haha

I think it's a false economy tuning a 1.4 as your never EVER going to see the torque unless you go down the turbo route.

I can't remember the guys name (i'm usless) but think to that 1400 Saxo Rally car that's on bodies.

It's like 150 odd bhp and 90lb/ft torque. Fair enough it has the power but without the torque I bet it doesn't 'feel' quick.

As they say, There's no replacement for displacement.

you can have my vtr engine for £50 if you want it sam, if you fit it yourself definitely worth the money
