View Full Version : Turbo charging a 1.1?

Evening everyone,

Ive had my saxo for about 7 months now and I want some more power from it... At first I thought a turbo charger would help but it looks like a lot of people on this forum don't think its worth doing much to a 1.1. I'm not looking for serious performance, just something that will get me off the mark a bit quicker....

Is it worth having a turbo and how much would it cost to add? I dont have the know how to do it myself but have a couple of friends who might. If did end up paying for labour as well, how much am I looking at? Decent investment or am I better off just putting the money towards a completely new car?

Cheers

At a guess about 3-4K for all the odds and ends.
It would be far easier just to get a vts lump put in. Twice the power for a fraction of the cost or time

Cheers for the quick responses guys.

3-4k? Hmm thats a lot considering it might not improve performance much...

As said, Sophia_Bush did it.

His was quicker than GTi's/VTS's. Think it made 130bhp.

3-4 k Would get you a decent spec'd furio or vtr turbocharged engine, to boost a 1.1 engine and gain power you wont need that much, pm sophia bush hea has done this with great results ;)

Cheers SB, that answers my question. 2k is not an amount I can throw around easily but it sounds like you have had good results. I'll start sniffing around to see who might be able to do the job for me.

if you said "who might be able to do the job for me" make sure you double your budget....

you will only do it on small budget if you do it yourself.

I'd rather have 120 N.Asp BHP with VTR brakes and suspension (not to mention aesthetics) than a 130 BHP force fed flatarch.

Spend the money on a VTS, then you atleast have a worthwile base to tune later if you wish.

Same, i'd rather have a N/A engine making that power rather than boosted (and indeed, have), but the OP was asking whether it had been done, and I was just letting him know the result.
