Just change it for another VTR engine if your going to change it, you can pick one up easily sub £200

i would love to, but iv been driving for 9 months and am going to do this up and change after iv hopefully got my no claims so i thought a 1.4 would be a cheap option for 6 months or so

Probably wouldn't work out cheaper.

If you want a 1.4 buy a proper furio!

plus its actually harder to change the v5 with the DVLA when reducing the engine size than when increasing it, due to the financial benefits of reduced size engine.

vtr's are quite a low insurance group anyway, easier to just put another vtr engine in

i would just put a vtr engine in or your just gunna have to do it twice if your gunna put a vtr engine in after 6months

To answer the question you have asked, you will need the engine, loom and ECU. Have a search theres plenty of threads on conversions

Problem is its still a vtr, and a modified one too if you drop a 1.4 in it so insurance will likely be more than a standard vtr.
