is it in my head or does the performance depend on how well looked after the car was by the previous owner?
i know it will abit ofcourse but i used to own a 2002 vtr just over a year ago that was in mint condition and it was nippy.
ive test drove a few vtr's recently and they do not feel as quick.
when i had my corsa 1.6 sport i remember thinking that it was slower than my saxo. now im test driving a few saxos im thinking was the corsa quicker lol.

tbh the engine is what it is, they all roll of the production line with the same power, just depends how well the engine and all componants have been serviced and looked after.
the power between two cars with the same egine can differ for alsorts of reasons such as tyre pressures!

yeah i surpose so yeah. plus the suspension is really soft on the mk2 so it might just feel slower because its not lowerd.

Engines arent exactly the same, theyre built within certain strict tolerances but some will always leave the factory with a marginally higher output than average, some lower.
Maintenance and lifespan do have a noticeable effect also.

+1 to that. Depending on the tolerances set in the factory (citroen saxo's probably not being to the finest) then the efficiency of engines can vary a fair bit.
