yea it would physically fit in but its not a simple job of bolting it in, everything would have to be custom made, thousands would be spent paying some one to do it for you, you might as well fit a saxo vts engine and spend the extra money making that more powerful

how many bhp does the xsara engine have, how much heavier is the block and box, how would it affect the handling...all these things ahave to be taken into consideration before you decide that this would be the way to go. If you can get a vts lump to the same bhp in a lighter fitment for less money spent its a no brainer really.

they are 167 bhp and they are 1190 kg (the whole car) whereas a saxo vts is 935kg so thats a difference of 255kg and considering an xsara is much bigger than a saxo and its only 255kg heavier i wouldnt say the actual engine itself is much heavier, but for simplicity you could start off with a plug and play 120bhp vts engine and spend some money gaining another 47 bhp which wont require any custom work, my 16v conversion cost me £300 and took me a bout a week to do only working a couple hours a day on it and imagine how good you could get that engine by spending all the money on it instead of paying someone to fit an xsara engine
