this questions seems not to have an answer mate!
no ones knows, people will tell you different reasons, but the fact of the matter is, both cars, in my opinion are the same speed wise, havent driven both mk1 and a mk2!
but adding 8 bhp to the car by a standard exhaust is surely something! french arent that clever you know smileys/smiley2.gif

i've heard that when citroen where putting their mk2 on the rolling road in production that they were using a differnt type of fuel which gave it that extra bit of power!!!

I'v raced (on track) a phase 1 VTR with mods (induction kit, full system, lowered and strut) and beat it with my standard phase 2 VTR.
To confirm this, i'v raced (on track) 2 other phase 1 VTRS and beat them both with my standard phase 2 VTR, it pulls away after 50 ...
And to put this into practice, im more than happy to race (on track) any other phase 1 VTR that thinks there is NO difference between the phase 1 and phase VTR's.
But VTS ..... woooooosh after 55 it just fly's away ! Even though it was a banger r reg with 70k+ and almost everything wrong with it, the VTS was quick !.

ci tuning have told me that the differnce is the camshaft a ecu upgrade and repositioning the cat. the repositioning of the cat is to allow more back pressure.
can anyone confirm this or isit a lot of piss

modifications to the head and revised camshaft+ecu. they had to up the power to get back what was lost when the new emissions regs came into force, so in theory there's no difference in speed between mk1 and 2.

parkers says different

lol good for them. for a start they state the mk2 vtr as having 100bhp (it has 98) and they don't give torque figures(torque dictates acceleration, not bhp), so how can you tell which is quicker from just looking at the parkers' stats? smileys/smiley12.gif

another thing when speaking to ci tuning a was talking about decating ma car, he then claimed that he could fit a sports cat and manifold for £425 and could give 18-20 bhp does anybody belive this

18-20bhp from a sports cat and manifold? i've just collapsed from laughing, excuse me while i pick myself up off the floor. ignore cituning, speak to gmc and read their technical sections for all the info you'll ever need.
