This has probably been asked a lot of times, so i'm sorry but which cams are best for a VTS? .. and how much it cost to get it done? .. what kind of things would i need to buy?

Thanks

I would say Newman PH3s are best atm, sort of overtaken 708s.

yes, I'd fit a new cambelt as you're disturbing the old one.

well you dont have to but youd be stupid not to, and yea camming is very expensive.

I'm only going to cam mine if i ever go down the throttle body route, then i can have a lot more work done eg port and polish, valve seats etc etc etc then fitting the throttlebodies , then spending £400 on a mapping session would be worth while

for a road going car, i'd say piper 270's.

i know everyone will bang on about how they don't produce the same peak power as the 708's, ph3's or 285's but if you look at a power graph, the 270's give more power across the range.

also, 270's don't have to be re-mapped, you can run the car well with a decent gain without it having to be re-mapped.

and if you plan on doing anything else to the car in the future, re-maps are a waste of money, get a stand alone ecu.

I'd include a set of pulleys within your budget, i know the standards are adjustable but if you going to do it, do it properly.

Piper 270's, are they around £250-£300, i think i have seen these on the internet before.
basically the vts im going to buy has had the ecu re-mapped but the engine that it was re-mapped for blew up because of the cam belt and just had a new engine in it, he said that the engine he has now dosent feel as quick?? what do you think, maybe the other engine had cams and not the new one?
