im looking at a new engine for my VTS. i can get a tu5jp4 engine with low miles fairly cheap. been told by the company selling them on 106owners that id only need to transfer my manifold, sensors and sump. as everything else will be ready to go.
i was wondering though, if i declare this on my DVLA paperwork, will this count towards a engine transplant and thus hick up the insurance? will i have problems in the future finding parts and is it really as easy as ive been told?

Should only be classed as an engine change and shouldn't up your insurance... it's like you blew up your old engine and put a new one in as theyre both 1.6 lumps, the dvla don't care if its an 8 or 16 valve. all you need to do is tell them the engine number and it's done.
If anything, insurence would come down abit as a c2 is cheaper to insure in the 1st place arn't they ?
Correct me if im wrong and just being stuipid lol

Nah, i rang the DVLA to enquire about this a while back. the guy i spoke to said that it's basicly a straight engine swap. so unless anyone knows anything different i'd go for it mate. I'd love to do one of these conversions but i don't have the $$$ at the mo.
Who are you getting the engine from off 106oc?
