wet kit you need must(yoda talk lol) think 50hp 75 probibly getting abit silly, you can get different kits, push of a buttom f&f style on ones with a micro switch under accelerator that activate on full throttle.

Youre better off with a seperate arming switch, then you dont use it too quickly.

You can safely use a 50bhp shot on a stock engine, but no more!!!!

Theres been a few guys in the club that have done it, search the progress threads.

i wouldnt go more then 25bhp jets on standard lump, you can run 5o's and even 75s if your careful but i wouldnt personally, engine wasnt designed for that and wont last as long as it should

i'd say 50bhp shot should be comfortable on a standard engine. i've ran a 50bhp shot on mine for years and never had an issue.

you'll have to have a better clutch though, a 50bhp shot will give you roughly 75lb/ft torque immediately and a run of the mill clutch won't like that one bit.
also, you will be wanting a wet kit.
i have a wizards of nos kit for sale, pm me if you're interested :y:

Anyone got a rough cost on a 50 shot kit plus fitting?

maddison_vts
26th May 2010, 19:31
new or used? fitting is pretty easy

Maxamus

new preferably... unless used is massively cheaper?

you're lookin at between 800 to 1k for a new decent kit fitted.

used will be anywhere from £100-£600 depending on the quality of the kit.

as we are in the uk, ideally you will want wizards of nos for spare parts etc and they are within the uk laws etc

Not that i'm interested in it on my own car, but can you notice it when you press the button? How did it affect your insurance?

Ive just started running nos and you can feel 25bhp extra on my vts clearly.

My insurance went up by £46 for 30bhp extra (on paper) they wouldnt know if you swapped over the jets anyway and you could easily play dumb and say you must have been sent the wrong ones!

Ive got a spare Ny Trex kit for sale too, im running WON stuff at the moment but oh my god its expensive on parts! ive spent a good £200 on small bits and pieces.

used is alot cheaper but needs to be checked and installed knowing what your doing to an extent!

Loads of Nitrous and no fuel and you can kiss your engine goodbye! :)

A nitrous injected rally car colin. now that's an idea! Altough on gravel the instant power would probably just transfer to the wheels spinning up when you press the button

Lippy
26th May 2010, 22:22
I think you've done everything else Colin so might as well! Also to stop the wheels spinning as soon as its activated just fit a progressive controller :) they pulse upto 30 times a second and fully adjustable! like a turbo thats controllable!

Haha na it wouldnt be going on the rally car :P another project I may have lined up

yeah definately, a 25bhp shot felt a little tame to be honest but a 50bhp shot was a nice big kick up the arse :afro:

the extra torque given is mental, on a 50bhp shot on the rolling road i saw around 80lbs/ft torque extra :fcuk:

to give an example, my car on a certain private road used to make (when it was n/a) 120mph by a certain point, on nitrous it was just shy of 135mph, this was a long hill too so an extra 10-15mph up a hill is crazy! it was the only mod for my car that made a massive difference with exception to when i turbo charged it.
it was honestly not a public road though!

my insurance went up £96 when i was 19 and i don't know how much it has affected it since because i've just renewed the policy for the last few years.

as for wizards of nos bits costing loads :geek: news to me! new jets cost me around £7, hose connectors and bottle connectors were a couple of quid each and the only other replaceable part is the solenoids but you can just service them and replace seals anyway so i don't know how thats expensive!the other bonus is being a uk company they are always available on the other end of the phone to give advice, parts are delivered next day and the kit is within the british standard regultations unlike the american kits (quite a few places refuse to fill the bottles if they aren't british approved - the only british approved bottle is supplied by wizards of nos)

wizards of nos costs more money to buy but they were tried and tested against all the other brands by performance ford, wizards of nos gave the biggest power gain over all other brands by a substantial amount and gave the most reliable outcomes too as opposed to a lot of american kits where the solenoid can freeze which can cause no fuel to get to the engine which can result in a nice big bang.:n:
i've given you the info, i'm sure with it you can figure out what is the best out there! :y:

everything Maddison said it true! won are the best and various people have said the same thing!

WON blow their own trumpet too much for my liking, if you have read their book its full of it tbh... it is true that alot of their stuff is better than other brands but they are very full of themselves.

Trev is a decent guy, their consumable items like olives and fittings are fairly cheap (£3 for 10 4mm olives as opposed to £3 for 25 pack from Pirtek...) thats true but for 4 meters of 5mm nylon tube, 1 meter of 4mm tube and 4 small fittings it cost me £80 not cheap...

If you want to buy a spare bottle or change an american bottle fitting to WON then that will cost you £18 for a inch long fitting, the site is not inclusive of vat either so bear that im mind

DO buy a WON kit but dont be fooled that they are cheap. Also things like their T pieces dont fit other peoples gauges and sensors and arent listed on their site as to what fitting they are (I lost loads of NOS and a gauge due to their inaccurate item descriptions)

25bhp is fun but gets boring quick, 50 shot i feel will empty bottle very quick but be lots of fun whilst it lasts!

a 50bhp shot will drain an 11lb bottle in 4 mins iirc. not much, but if you think thats 4 minutes flat out which is a fair bit.

on a 50bhp shot a full tank would last me just over a week if i was constantly using it. if i just gave it the odd squirt here and there it would last around 2 months.
