Looking to buy the 8v Raceland Stainless Steel Manifold off Kam Racing later on in the summer and obviously i will have to do the oil filter conversion, my question is will i be able to notice any power gains and my biggest question any different in the sound the SS Race Centre Pipe/Ashley 3 Inch Comp Backbox will give off with the above installed?.

Manifolds make more of a difference to the power delivery than an exhaust system. Really free up the revs and it pulls alot more linear, if you get what I mean. Will also make it raspier too.

why dont you save yourself the hassle of fitment and buy the raceland manifold for the mk2? The £30 extra is about the same as what you will pay for all the parts needed to convert your car to the mk1

Just looking at that now, whats the actuall difference between a 4-1 and a 4-2-1 manifold?, will i tell a different in sound and that?.

Any chance Raceland are going to do a 4-1 for the 16v?

in theory a 4-2-1 is better lower down the rev range and 4-1's are better higher up in the rev range int he power band but i doubt you'll see any difference so just get a 4-1 much easier and also probably easier to sell on

kamracing say that you can see 15 bhp with a 4 branch and the kamracing exhaust system, id take this with a pinch of salt though i cant see a vtr making 15bhp just with a manifold and exhaust, but apparently vtr engine take well the breathing mods, i stand to be corrected

kamracing are very good, fast delivery time and good customer service definitely buy from them

the difference between a 4-2-1 and 4-1 is going to be negligible on a near standard engine not optimised for either.
As for the bhp increase. We've had a number of customers coming back to us with figures of between 13-15bhp gains after doing back to back tests from their standard cars. The VTR manifold seems to be very restrictive though part will also be the restrictiveness of the standard cat.

I doubt it to be honest. The 4-2-1 is a good design and a 4-1 will not see gains

oh rite fair enough, i had a raceland 4-2-1 and a supersprint race exhaust and i didnt notice anything tbh but it might very well of made a difference but i never had it tested, but i try not to get tangled up in bhp figures, in the the end I ditched the 8v and went to the dark side :P

i've just fitted a s/s 8v raceland 4-2-1 manny to my vtr with a kam racing s/s race centre section and a s/s 3.5" scorpion imola backbox and it made a massive difference over the standard system. Apart from the noise which is an obvious factor the engine revs much more freely and quicker now :)
