which turbo manifold do you guys think i should go for on my 106 gti?
i have enough for a cituning manifold at the moment or do i save a bit more n get the dp engineering one?
vote please, dp or cituning :)

Dp engineering if you want looks, if not then I'd go cituning and spend the rest on a set of injectors

depends what your budget is, as said if you went cituning then you can get a decent set of injectors and still have change id imagine
ive got the dp and its awsome!

if your not after mega mega power the cituning one will be more than adaquate.
like raunchz said, if you buy cituning then you have money left over for other important parts...
but if budgets not an issue, DP ftw.

i think gmc said in the previous thread, if you want it to look bling, get a dp one. if you don't feel like wasting money, get a cituning one. the cituning manifolds are miltek and don't just take one type of turbo.

im gonna be usin a gt25 from a 200sx then MAY upgrade to a gt28 when i get pistons and rods all in

i would like to aim for atleast 250bhp but think thats mega power to try and achieve or am i wrong?
raunchz

250atw is do'able but you'll need to add the cost of a clutch and diff to cope with that - plus then maybe look at strengthening the clutch arm and driveshafts if you'll drive it hard.
Past about 200bhp the cost increase as you aim to make it reliable

gt28 will do nothing more than cause wheelspin. 250bhp at the fly is achievable on standard internals despite what anyone says.
pretty sure a 200sx uses a t25 not a gt25, two different turbo's.
Pug106-GTI
30th May 2010, 17:54
maybe t25 then cant remember for definate mate lol will have to check when i goto the shed next
and yeah 250bhp atf was my kind of aim
i just love turbo cars mate has a scooby its standard apart from a DV but just love it lol
anyone with a 106/saxo turbo played with a scoob before? lol
Pug106-GTI

also as for 250bhp at the fly on standard internals is this not a bit dangerouse? would be looking at about 8psi on standard as i been told thats a safe amount of boost to use whilst standard?
how much psi could i run on forged internals?
maddison_vts
30th May 2010, 17:58
a friend of mine has a 280bhp wrx and it doesn't even compare. other than off the mark as he can grip on launch.
so yeah, a scoob isn't really a patch on it. however, his car owes him £2100 mine owes me a hell of a lot more.:wall:

your turbo is quicker than his scoob? apart from off the line?
maddison_vts
30th May 2010, 18:00
nobody can say exactly how much you can run on standard internals, some say 6psi others say 1bar (14.7psi)
there are a lot of different things to consider, i've heard of them going bang at 7psi but then others have ran nearly 1bar and had no issues.

so you cant really say whats safe with forged internals?

yes. why do you come across as suprised?
keep in mine an impreza wrx is 4 wheel drive at a 50/50 split which results in around 90bhp lost to transmit to the floor add on top of that the extra weight of a scoob and then put it against a saxo which is lighter and producing more power at the wheels which is quicker? it speaks for itself.
flywheel horsepower doesn't matter, its what it makes at the wheels that matters imo.

no, i don't know.

to add to this, if he had pumped into his scoob the same amount that i have to mine, his car would obviously be faster.

maddison, have you any videos of your car? have you got a thread? spec?
to OP.
just get the cituning one and spend the money on other parts... then at a later date you decide the manifold is holding you back (i very much doubt) then you could sell the cituning and buy a DP.

yeah i can understand that mate where did you get your magnex decat from? as i have a magnex cat back system atm witth a 421 manifold so want a decat to go with it

maddison, have you any videos of your car? have you got a thread?spec?
haven't got any videos of my car since its been turbo charged, no. i would like to get one though!
i don't have a progress thread for a few reasons, (don't want this to sound like i'm being a cock)
1. i cant really be bothered to take pictures of everything as i do it to the upload it to the net.
2. i don't really care what anyone else thinks of it! it makes me smile when i drive it so i don't feel the need to make a progress thread to read people saying 'wow your car is awesome' or 'wow, what a cock, you've spent that much on a shit car!'
i'm not trying to make out to you that its some sort of supercar slayer, it isn't but it certainly shifts as i'm sure a few people on sax-p will confirm! ;)
as for the spec, majority is in my sig :y:

i bought the entire system about 3 years ago. i need to change my sig really, haven't got the magnex system on there anymore, i got a larger diameter 'custom' exhaust
Pug106-GTI
30th May 2010, 18:22
did you go for a 2.5" diameter? as thats why i been told to go for when i fit the turbo
maddison_vts
30th May 2010, 18:27
i'm pretty sure its 2.5'' yeah.
