GTI ecu

My mate has put a 1997 gti engine running in exess of 160 bhp into him mk2 Y reg vtr,

With the gti ecu the engine wouldnt start, but we managed to get hold of a unlocked ecu from a VTS for a week, but hes had that ECU back now for his VTS.

How do you unlock the ECU or how do we go about it? Need it sorted asap plus havent really got much funds,

Any help or advice please share

Run the car take the black box out from under the dash then pretty sure the ecu is then unlocked.. but much sure you take the box off which ever car u put it in..

If you have the matching transponder and keyfob to go with the ecu then just plug it all in and away you go. You dont even need to unlock it.
