ok a little over a year ago i had 2 brand spanking new driveshafts fitted up at manic motors (thanks chris). All has been well since no problems, however after fitting this 1.1 box and using it for 1k/2kish BOTH of my driveshafts are FUCKED!

inner bearings on both of them are shot, now they were VTR shafts not 1.1 shafts weather this is the reason i dont know? they fit fine:wink:

none of the geometry has changed since fitting the box.

Anyone shed any light on this?

one of the shafts will go into the diff further or somthing. I cant rmember now, but i know that.

Ive got a 1.1 box on my VT and it runs fine, also think Simo has one on his turbo. Might just be a fluke?

inner bearing carriers are fooked, the 2nd bearing that sits in the carrier (drivers side) was in 5 or 6 peices with the outer casing seized into the carrier.

could be a fluke as i carnt think of any feasable explanation as to why they wouldnt come out. both shafts were stuck in the box... i had to cut the gearbox in half to get teh driveshafts out...diamond cutting discs FTW!!!!

no other choice but the cut it open as the driveshafts id bought owed me a surcharge! + i needed the bearing carrier to refit the new uns!

was a right bitch of a job tbh.

some pics of the gearbox:

LOL :y:

after all the faffing id done trying to get the shafts out with the box still on open heart surgery on the box was the only way to make my day a little better.

never known such a simple job such as changing shafts to go completely pete tong!

yeah diffs all in one peice!

not a mark on it... yours if you want! it comes with free gearbox!

I'd say it was some sort of a fluke with the gearbox mate, there is no reason why that should happen at all

hmm that is a strange one
i know the diff in the 1.1 box and all other lower models like furio quicky etc etchave smaller bearings, so the driveshafts are slightly lobger as they go further in the box

but since you was using vtr shafts which wold be shorter than the 1.1 shafts and on a smaller diff, maybe they was sitting funny or not in far enough?

or it could quite simply be a fluke
