Alot of people are interested in a pointless thread aren't they go into such depth to argue I personally would say it pronounced Simon without an n as that's logcally what he was thinking when he made the name

Peter_D
15th June 2010, 12:22
It baffles me that people would even think of calling him SIMMO!

nicole_
15th June 2010, 12:25

Sy-Mo- 2 sylables
Sim-mo- 2 sylables (sp)

So neither is really quicker

Simmo... Sigh-mo sounds silly and as said before, doesn't roll off the tongue as well, never ever heard anyone called it ever, I've heard "Sigh" though as a shortened version of Simon. I wonder why Simon is even pronounced Sighmon, maybe we've been saying it wrong all these years, either that or people called Tim or Timothy need to be called Tighmothy or tighm or something... thoughts end.

you know they can track the changes in a post Peter? i.e. see the previous edits
Basically so they can investigate an offensive post that the original offender may have edited to cover up there skankass remarks.

The winner is....

Symo....

Most people who have posted in here that they say Symo have stated the correct reasons.

In UK English, US English and AU English it is pronounced Symo.

It would need to have one of two things to be pronounced Simmo - the double m or something we don't have in English - an accent over the letter i - so it would be written Símo (the í "hardens" the sound)

In French, it would be pronounced Simmo because that is the way of the French language.

SIM as in SIMCARD is pronounced that way because it is an abbreviation. SIM as in the card stands for Subscriber Identity Module, and SIM as in SIMCITY is short for Simulation/Simulated so it is pronounced in short as it is in the long word (same as SIMOn) ;)

So that is the long and short of it. It is not just a North/South thing, there is more to it than that :):):):)

So there you have it, I have wasted all that time of your life for something that has always been a source of "no you don't say it like that"
