I had a piper centre section and that was in two pieces. Don't remember it having any numbers on it. As above its probably an old supersprint. Are you sure it is s/s?

the supersprint part numbers are 6 digit.
Supersprint started making the centre pipes in two pieces from mid 2009 as the long single piece ones were costing a fortune to courier overseas.

If its painted black it will either be mild steel or aluminised steel. Shiny bare metal will be stainless
