Alrite chaps,

Anyone know where i can get replacement rocker cover gaskets?

Im not a fan of using instant gasket sealent where an OE seal is available.

It appears somebody has been rough with my new engine and torn the seals to bits and sploshed instant gasket all over.. bad times. :wall:

Im referring to the little grey seal thats stuck to the cam covers..

Also - anybody know what sticks them to the covers? some kind of high temp glue, or glue in general ?

I dont want to have to resort to buying new cam covers lol..

On a 16v Nicole a sealant does tend to be necessary :y:

If you have j4 (saxo) cam covers the seals are not replaceable....you just have to use a sealant.

If you have jp4 cam covers the seals are replaceable....can get them from citroen or peugeot.

The best way I found to attempt to reseal the j4 covers is as follows:

- remove all the old camcover sealant (grey stuff)
- put a small bead of sealant (1-2mm) in diameter around the base of the cam cover
- leave it for approx 5mins
- gently rest the cam cover onto the head in position and leave for approx 5 mins
- do up all the bolts finger tight
- go round and torque the mall up (although the torque is a small amount though)

^ that's your best chance of getting it to seal once the oem seal is buggered

It's a j4, although I have a spare jp4 cover if necessary. The j4's can be polished though ;)

I'll try sealing it with mastixo or something then.

Cheers for the reply raunchz

You can't buy a seal for the 16v, use loctite 5910 best thing by far for sealing

like i said earlier in this thread vtr and vts cam covers use different types of gasket to seal properly, 16v cam covers need instant gasket, u really need to see a 16v cam cover to visualise what im saying

No problem. You just need a good quality sealant really - as mentioned above, the lactate that halfords sell is spot on for the job,
