16v engine, simple question

Righty, been reading up. And im getting the impressiong that if i was to put a single plug 16v setup into a currently single plugged vtr. The looms just plug together?
Obviously the ecu would have to be unlocked. But so long as i have the engine, loom and unlocked ecu (inc auxs)
Its all plug and play?

almost, theres 2 types of single plug ecu, but if you get the right loom then yeah it just plugs straight in. i had to change the alternator on a 106 diesel the other week, that was harder than the vts conversion on my vtr lol
