or - i had a new cambelt kit not too long ago put in by a local garage could it be something to do with this ? but the tappets have definatley gone really loud

that might be a problem in the leads or coil pack. Also, how old is your battery ? Smells like either the ignition is not keeping up, either you're lacking amps..

Being a VTR, have you tried adjusting the tappets?

I'd say it was some sort of restriction.
Unplug the battery overnight.
Check the air filter, clean it out if necessary - or remove it temporarily and see if anything changes.
If not, then could be an exhaust blockage.
Or could be fuel filter (I'd replace anyway, only £5)
Check oil level? All okay?
What colour are the plugs?

i might drive to a local garage if i make it and ask them to look it over, i cleaned the filter not long ago and polished all throttle exhaust should be sweet as air flow is good still comeing out fine and i changed fuel filter about 100 miles ago to the good bosch ones and recently put in millers oil 5w40 fully syntetic and its to the max bang on, i just took the plugs out put new ones in no change used a mates coild pack no change i rev it and the accelerator comes back to 1k really fast and the tappets are going mad

christ that sounds unwell.
If you take the rocker off and have a look under the oil baffle to see if there is fresh oil everywhere. It sounds very dry. Could be an oilway blockage

when they done the oil change a few weeks back they put it to full on dipstick and i have checked it since then about 3 times hasent changed hmmm strange well i cant do anything on it now as its like 3 miles away at garage i used g/f's car to get there but got work soon when they let me know ill tell you straight away. more then likely an oil blockage than low oil ?

If it is full on the dip then it isn't low oil. That's just what it sounds like to me. I'm sure someone older with more experience will be able to diagnose better with their ears
