got a standard valeo clutch in my 8v turbo and its got really bad slip.
What i want to know is what power beofre the standard unit can't cope so i know if its just worn or need uprating, car will be going when in winter so dont want to chuck money away on uprated if i dont need to

its a bit of a tricky question, what will be causing the clutch slip is the big hit of torque low down, if it were to come in gently, there is a good chance the clutch wouldn't slip.
when you turbo a car that wasn't meant to be boosted, you've got to factor in an uprated clutch because the standard clutch was never meant for it.
160bhp n/a will be ok on a standard clutch, 160bhp boosted won't be because there is more torque and it will come in aggressively where as n/a is a linear delivery.
the upshot is, it doesn't matter what power you're running, you clearly need a new clutch. if you've gone to the trouble of boosting it, you may aswell spend that bit more on a decent clutch to cope with the extra power
