Right ive changed my camshaft, put a reprofiled one in! and now it idles all over the place, cuts out when cold etc etc....
ive been told a remap will sort this out? but ive phoned a few places and they are saying they dont change the air/petrol ratio?
does anybody know a company? which can sort it out for me?? or any information to put me into the right direction?.

yes you will need a remap, thts whats causing bad idle, also are they timed up proplery?
not to sure of anywhere near you, dpends how far your willing to travel to have it mapped reali

atspeed racing is very good at mapping, think there in essexs? there online now, send them a pm they should sort you out, think theres one in northhamton, there a fair few about tbh

you have standard ecu yeh? Atspeed can't remap a standard ecu.
get in contact with Chipwizards up in Manchester - they can remap the standard ecu rather well.

but will this sort out the cold start problems? i need an answer really. as i keep phoning places and all they say is, it makes no difference to the air/petrol ratio.

if you have a higher profile cam then it would have put the air/fuel ratio out as the valves are open for longer meaning more air but same amount of fuel (well thats the way i see it)
so to re-map it you would bump the fuel up to even it out again? i think thats how it works i dont really know

what lift and duration did you get?
Combination of needing a remap and probably not timed in properly either.
Sorting the timing out without a remap if you havn't got over board with the camshaft spec will sort the idling out. Just probably idle high.

i thought the same tbh, but every place ive spoke to had said we dont change the air/petrol ratio! they just tweek things, ive been looking at getting a live remap which apparently will sort it out???
Come on i thought loads of people on here had cams and remaps etc etc etc....
i need info!! lol.

right the timing is out i no it is, i am going to get it set to the right timing for the cam! and then i need a remap? and it will run fine? no cutting out on cold starts?

never is a guarentee with the cutting out. My standard VTS even some times cut out when cold.
Know some people whos cars with cams and remap was fine, others would very rarely cut out now and then.
Depends who maps it and times it up.
Wayne at chipwizards is the person i would take it to.
What engine is it a 1.1 8v?
But if you have the timing all over the place then that would deffinately cause it to cut out and not idle.
What camshaft spec did you go for?

"first you need to establish wether its he cam causing your problems or a fault within the car, sensor etc.
assuming the car ran fine before fitting the cam, check the install, missing/split vacuum pipes etc. if that is all good then you can say its the cam at fault.
fix 1 - put a stock cam back in it
fix 2 - remap
as mentioned, we do not support tuning of the stock ecu, perhaps speak to chip wizards???
we only tune aftermarket professional engine management systems such as omex, dta, kms, mbe etc.

was my actual reply.... i dont see anywhere on there that says "its the car, its how it is! and remaping wont do a thing"

don't know what duration and lift they are in that case, as kent and autosprint dont even list them for a 1.1. Did he not give you the specification.
