Unless you do all the work yourself, the money it would cost to replace the engine with a VTS one and do the mods to make it 150BHP+...and pay the additional insurance costs.....either buy a VTS and mod it......or get a faster car

To do a vts conversion yourself and tune it to 150 bhp will cost you at least £2k for the engine ect, cams, re-map or management and thats if you buy second hand breathing mods ie mani, de-cat, full system and induction. For cams and a re-map your looking at a grand alone. Ideally when doing a conversion you should be changing oil, oil filter, water pump, head gasket, timing belt, alt belt, plugs, ect if your going to be seeking big gains so it doesn't go tits up on you a month in!! If you couldnt do this your self then costs are going to rise. Just save for a vts and do it gradually would be my advice as ive been down this road myself and it costs allot more than you think!

i did my conversion for £300 (engine/loom/ecu/1.1 box/rad and fan) but i fitted it myself and vtr engine mounts are fine, and you dont need a vts rad/fan, the BASIC things you need:
-engine (complete with ancillaries)
-loom (im guessing you need a three plug)
-unlocked ecu (again three plug)
-top rad hose
(the bottom one will need replacing/cutting down if you by a vts rad)
job done lol
but obviously its always a good idea to change the cambelt/tensioner/idler/water pump/clutch and give it a good service

i wouldn't go to the extreme of changing the head gasket if it doesn't need doing as its not really any harder to do it with the engine in the car if it does go pop
