Hello

I have elbowed the idea of getting a new engine but I do want to make mine quicker.

Have had a look on some threads and a uprated Cam, vernier pulley and engine remap seem to be the way to go.

Have seen Kent PT11 cam for sale and am thinking of getting it.

My questions are:

What sort of BHP increase would I be looking at over the standard 98bhp with the above parts and remap?

Also, would it be better to get a reconditioned cylinder head for maximum performance I would it be ok to use mine (its on 99k miles)?

Cheers

Laurie

i know someone cammed ther vtr, cant remember what cam though..
put a rallye inlet in, cam and remap, then obv breathing mods and full exhaust..
and saw around the 110-115 bark i believe..
i know youve elbowed the idea of new engine, but itll be alot better gain wise, probs just as much money wise as the cams remap etc..
and gna be able to see far grfeater gains on the vts engine :y:

Ive found out that the PT11 doesnt fit the silver top engines which mine is :(

with the money that youd end up spending on 20 bhp max it would probably end up costing fairly similar amounts to buying a vts engine with some low miles on it (:

I put a high lift catcams cam into my 8v with rallye inlet and full exhaust system and saw very good gains (just of vts pace with decat) and that was without remap. If you tune the 8v it will more than likely end up with more mid range pull than a 16v which imo is where you need the extra power, have a look through my progress thread if you want to have a look at my setup i had. Im pretty sure theres a few videos on there aswell :)

1st of all cool rbf avatar.
2nd make sure when buying a cam for you car it's the right one. There are 2 different base circle diameter and of you fit the wrong one it will be worse than standard. Because the later silver tops run roller rockers they have different cams. Ring Kent to confirm this cam will work on your engine.
