Hi, ive got a problem with my vtr engine. when running there is a horrible ticking sound, constantly, regardless of temperature, the cambelt has been changed with no change to the engine noise, any ideas what that one could be.

Also from the throttle unit above the inlet manifold it sounds like a bucket of screws being shaken about, any ideas what that could be.

Finally does anyone know why the engine will idle at around 3000rpm, this is a very ramdom occurence, there is no logic, it just does it. sometimes it wont show for a hole month, then about 6 times on one journey. bouncing the engine of the limited clears it for a while but id like a long term fix.

Any help would be brillient.

Cheers

the ticking sound may be the valve clearance not a hard job just make sure the engine is stone cold. as for the high idle i would try a new idle control valve first. hope this helps
